Maximum "Max" Ride is a fourteen-year-old mutant freak. She is the leader of her flock, which also includes Iggy, Fang, Nudge, the Gasman (Gazzy or Gaz), and Angel. Max is ninety-eight percent human and two percent bird, giving her a 13'6" wingspan. The flock is constantly on the run from scientists that work at the School and their evil creations, which are called Erasers.
